Testimonials
As a former foster youth who aged out of the system, I am grateful for the valuable life skills that were provided to me, which have played a crucial role in helping me thrive as an adult. The support and guidance I received during my transition from foster care to being an adult have made a significant impact on my life, enabling me to overcome challenges and achieve personal and professional success.
One of the most valuable life skills I acquired was financial literacy. Through workshops and one-on-one coaching, I learned how to manage my finances effectively. I gained knowledge about budgeting, saving, investing, and understanding credit. This education empowered me to make informed decisions about money and avoid falling into debt or financial instability. It also gave me the confidence to pursue higher education without worrying excessively about financial burdens.

Growing up in foster care was not easy. I experienced multiple placements, constantly moving from one home to another. The instability and lack of support made it challenging for me to develop the necessary skills to navigate life on my own. As I approached the age of 18, the reality of aging out of foster care started to sink in, and I felt overwhelmed and scared about what the future held for me. Fortunately, I came across AP2T. When I first joined AP2T, I was assigned a mentor who became my biggest advocate and support system. My mentor helped me set goals and create a personalized plan for my transition into independent living. They taught me practical skills such as budgeting, cooking, and managing household chores. Additionally, they provided emotional support and encouraged me to pursue higher education. One of the most valuable aspects of AP2T was their housing program. They helped me secure safe and affordable housing after leaving foster care. This stability gave me a sense of security and allowed me to focus on building a better future for myself.
